I know there is a lad who has 17s on his Polo. However, they look a bit crap cause there too big and you can't get the car lowered enough to make them look good. A fair amount of people get scrubbage of 15's so I'd hate too think what 17's would be like. I got s**t loads of scrubbage when I had 185/60/14's on mine. At the front anyway, didn't get much at the back.

I spoke to someone with 17s on their Mk3, apparently it makes it scrub like a bastard and isn't very nice to drive either.

15s max for a pre-94 Polo methinks.

Yeah, 15's are max and sometimes that can be a bit of a push, some people get scrubbing but dubenvy has 15's on his and he gets no scrubbage.

14's are you safest bet, means you can go pretty low too 8)

With regards to 15s, it's the width not the diameter of the wheel that cocks things up.

Mine are 6.5x15s, Dub Envy's are 5.5x15s if I remember and he has low profile tyres like I do so his won't rub at all.

You can put Mk2 Golf 16v BBS (15s) on with 185/55 tyres, but if you go any wider than 5.5" or get 195mm wide tyres you'll need to go low profile (like I have) and get 195/45/15s. Even then though you'll need to roll your back arches for definate to lower it 40mm and the front ones will catch slightly. Lower it any more or get wider or bigger wheels, and you'll have to roll the front ones too, and it'll probably rub the inner arches.

Lots of hassle IMHO for not a huge gain, but I'm sure people will contest that.
