Maybe I can put the CL to bed for a year, and thrash that to bits to get dirt cheap insurance and a years no claims, then accidentally take it offroading and see what state I can get it into...

Darn! Maybe I could launch it into a quarry using an air cannon Top Gear stylee. A fitting end for a tough little car, especially when it falls to pieces upon impact.

Well the interior will for sure - probably just dent the outside and break the glass if you launch it on an air cannon

Could never be as tough as the Toyota Hi-lux pick-up though

the bodywork may as well be wet rice-paper, but the engine will keep going forever
probably cuz it only puts out about 30hp
i think you should get it... ive been thinking about a 900cc as my next car just to p*** off the folk who think the polo is crap - the bizarre handling in a panda is a smile a mile, at least in the passenger seat

I had a 1000s as a company car years ago and was very impressed with everything except the interior.
Body panels were solid in feel - lots or ready made creases to increase rigidity....
Engine reved like a banshee and gave good power for a ikkle lump
Handling was excellent - throw it about like you don't own it

- stuck like glue (might be summut to do with wider tyres)
And with a 5 speed box - not bad on juice when you drove everywhere with you foot planted on the noisy pedal
Breadvan shape meant you could carry an awfull lot of gear

was just thinking about it because a mate used to give four of us lifts home in a battered old 900 (that eventually died from worn piston rings - it got hammered so much, more than my polo!) and it felt like riding the worlds fastest bounciest bus. theres a certain corner where it always felt like it was going to tip over
but even on what couldnt have been more than 135 section tyres, she still managed to get all 5 bodies onto, around, and off that thing with just a slight lift of the throttle and no wheelslip a good 5-10mph faster than i've ever managed it in the dub no matter what i've tried. Always ended up sliding...
hmmm yknow for a tenner, i might have that. thats the price of having two wheels balanced after all (too bad the insurance is £300 even on 3rd party... how much extra on my policy to add it to the polo you think?)
oh btw... what kind of firm has Pandas as company cars?

my mum had a 1000 fire CLX, had BBS RA styley alloys, ltd edition red/black interior, and FIAT in big letters true barry sttttyyyyylllllleyyy from the factory lol... all was good, we managed an indicated 105 out of it down the motorway, my mum didnt even realise lol, and all was good till my brother parked it against a kerb whilst going to fast into a junction or something and iirc he put the suspension into the engine block or somethin lol!

probably punched a leafspring thru the spare tyre so it fouled on the cambelt (or is it a pushrod engine? i have my suspciions!)
how can something shaped like a cube make it past 100, it would melt due to friction

mind you me mum also had a d-reg 1000 wayback (only a CL tho, we were poor chavs

) and she enjoyed destroying porsches with it.. i think it gained an extra 20% power if you left the choke out hehe
shumi in a panda, hmmm, he'd still take fifth place (german driver, italian car). stick him in a g40 and see what happens..?
