Mysterious Cutting Out - Possible Solution...

I've noticed a few mk2 owners have posted similar cutting out problems, so i thought i'd tell you all what happened today....
...My parents run a Mk2 Classic (Y plate) and it keeps dying on them, but restarts every time, no problem. Well, today i stripped out the ignition barrel to check all was okay, and i found that the ignition switch (just behind the barrel) was cracked and literally fell to bits in my hand. I changed it for another, and it seems okay now... Not the sort of thing you would expect to fail, even after 140K + miles.
