Hi there, I mentioned this problem a while ago. Every now and then I'll be driving along steadily around 30mph and the engine will hiccup. Basically the revs move up and down quickly. The problem will then cease to appear and it wont trouble me. Apart from when Im idling at traffic lights it has the tendency to cut the engine out completely, which causes a brief pannick as the engine wont re-start.

The car went in for its 5th service today, which left me £99.99 lighter for a glorified oil change, oh and a good clean! I mentioned the problem bout the cutting out and hiccups, running a diagnostic they found the following error code:

Faulty G28 Speed Sender

This is apparently causing the problem, I was wondering has anyone else had any problems with this. Josh mentioned some time ago the problem could be due to a faulty temperature sensor which was about £30 for the part. I've tried doing a little reading around but can't seem to find anything.

The price I've been quoted for a new G28 Speed Sender is an astonishing £207.08 + new front brake pads needed at £118.67 + I was also told when the GTI went in for the pedal box my water pump is leaking which will set me back a further (around the sum of) £400!!!

To be quite honest I feel robbed. The car has only done 29,000 miles.

Has anyone else had such problems, I'd be happy to hear from you. I hope your all having better luck with your car than I am!

Its a shame, and easy to be unlucky with such things. Its a pain that you have had to replace the sender, and usually if you had stripped it yourself you might have been able to fix it. In my case a sender was reporting to be faulty and was just not plugged in firmly.

As for your other stuff, well yeah, pads don't last forever. Not sure about the pump though. usually a leaking pump in my exeriance is because someone broke it whilst doing something else.

You say it could be just a case of being pushed back in? Please could you let me know where abouts I should be looking.. Although im no mechanic I would appreciate any help on this.
