Lagging Startup

this is doing my head in now
when i go to startup it takes a few attempts before the engine actually starts,at first i thought it was the battery, but the battery was gettin 14v and was fully charged so im assuming that and the altenator and batt is fine, then i goto a startup motor specialists and he goes if the car is starting up eventually, then it aint the startup motor :?
i've noticed this seems to happen in the cold, once the car is warmed up, it still takes a few attempts, but starts quicker than when the cars cold.

anyone else had this problem,or have any ideas what it can be?

Had this problem a while ago, I replace the dizzy cap, rotor arm, igniton leads and spark plugs, now fine however refer to your haynes manual to ensue the timing is right, before starting up. I also treated the car to a new battery at the same time.

Best giving the ignition system a full service.

Change your oil and oil filter, and air filter at the same time while your at it.

I'd do the same but I'd leave the leads till last (most expensive bit)

Dizzy Cap, Rotor and plugs isn't more than £15 and 15 mins to change

I bet it would have ben cheaper than the HD Battery

cheers for the replies

i think i've found the problem i think its the battery earth wire,
the car seems to start ok with a jumper cables, and the battery has a 14v charge,so i the connected the black wire straight to the engine (instead via the battery)and it started first time without any lagging, just wondering if this is a common problem with battery ground cables,as i dont have a clue about theses things lol.
