Could anyone tell me how to get the front door handles off on a 6n2 gti, the previous owner has delocked it and now i'm having trouble with the remote fobs on the alarm. I've had a look at the description for removing them on the 9n and it doesn't seem to be the same
cheers

Tony,
Sorry to hear of your problem, the removal of the door handles are very similar to that of the 9N however you are removing the whole handle not just the blanking plate.
Open the door, and on the side of the door, the bit that houses the lock, how to describe it, you know you could say the back of the door (not the exterior or interior)? Well if you look there and look at the same level as the door handle there should be a single torx screw, that is the screw that releases the handle, undo this, I remember taking this out completely but be careful as I remember a gap that it fall into, you could just undo the screw slowly until the handle works loose. Once the handle is free all you need to do is carefully push the handle forward, towards the front and pull gently where the lock should be (the part of the handle that pulls out when opening the door) this should then remove the rear of the handle and all you need do now is slide the handle back from the front join and thats it, the handle should be removed from the door leaving two holes!
Did the previous owner include the original handles with locks in the sales? If not I'm not sure what you can do about the problem as the handle doesn't contain any locking parts just a clip that 'pulls' the locking mechanism from inside the door. Whats the problem with the remote fobs? Have you tried changing batteries? the other remote fob? If you post whats the problem we may be able to help you further.
Oh, by the way, it's best not to post problems like this on this thread, this is reserved for members who wish to post information how to do things yourself. If you post in the Polo GTI section you will get a quicker response too...I know you are new so I won't be hard on you! Welcome by the way and hope the above helps!

Hi
Thanks for the help, have managed to get the handle off and fit one of the originals back on, so can now use the key if needed.
Have only had the car a couple of months, i have a couple of Scirocco's so i'm not used to these modern cars!
For some reason both key fobs just stop locking or unlocking the car, both fobs light up so i presume the batteries are ok, and also they seem to start working after i've switched the ignition on and off, could they be losing the code? It has been ok for a few weeks after the first time they stopped working, and then they stopped working again yesterday, but they have been working fine today.
Any help would be much appreciated as i don't want to take to the dealers for them to have a look at it and then say theres nothing wrong as usual.
Sorry but i'm noy even sure which thread i put my original question on!
cheers

has anything else stopped working as well as the key fobs?
This sounds a bit like what happened with mine, there was also minor things like the radio not turning off when taking the key out, and the courtesy light not having a delay.
the problem was the central convenience ecu, that cost 170 quid, and then there was all the investigation and wiring checks it ended up costing me £340!
Hope yours isnt the same problem!!
By the way, what colour is your car? you dont want to sell the handles do you?

Everything else seems to be working fine, had no problems with the stereo or the interior light.
Thats the thing with newer cars, it costs so much to find out whats causing the problem, everythings electronic and complicated!
My car [girlfriends car really] is black, i'm going to keep the handles as i will put the delocked one back on when the problem is sorted out
thanks
Tony
