I was scared by dxgs horror story with his trim so I quickly sprayed some VAG silicone spray inside the upper part of the centre console and touch-plastic, its remained silent so far. Only problem is silicone spray won't keep it quiet forever

Also, the Instrument cluster rattle seems to have gone totally silent, very strange :? Its seems the only time I DO want it to rattle it doesn't!! :x No chrome dials for me then

I can get the part number of the silicone spray if anyone wants to give it a go?

Yeah, reading all the horror stories about rattles and stuff - I decided to get down on my knees and get busy. I bought blue foam rubber strips and self-adhesive rubber strips. Although my car does not rattle...I tried to put in a piece of foam rubber in every spot I thought could lead to a rattle.

Question: how do I remove the little holder on the top of the dashboard - the 'cubby' just above the centre vents? I tried removing it by hand, but I didn't succeed - and I didn't want to use a screwdriver - could lead to nasty unwanted marks.

Please (do let us know the part no.!) :)

Also, does anyone know of a webpage or some other source with disassembly instructions for the dash and doo panels?

I've had a few rattles but none serious. The main one was the strip of plastic in front if the textured dash but this was fixed by the dealer. My main gripe is the noisy suspension, I'll get them to fix that on the first service.

I've got to say, my car's suspension is absolutely brilliant. It handles like a dream and eats up bumps and uneven surfaces with ease - much better than my Clio.

Well this might /might not make you feel better.

I've currently got a Golf 1.8 GTi as a coutesy car (lucky me!) while my polo was in for some non-rattle related issues.

The Golf has only 400 odd miles on the clock but there are rattles coming from the dashboard, knocking suspension, the pasenger seat is wobbly and the steering wheel isn't centred properly

It looks like someone had already owned it as they had started modding it already! (clean number plates, richbrook taxdisc holder...)

No cabin rattles at all...built like a rock. 8)

Only gripe is that the suspension occasionally sort of groans when the car wobbles (not that the car does wobble much, ofcourse  ).
