As for G40ing or turboing one of these lumps its not really worth the money when you can get a G40 engine for less than a grand

You need to work out exactly what you want from the engine you planning to have or rebuild. The compression ratio of a GT is far too high to run forced induction of any significant boost. Reducing the compression ratio would allow forced induction, but loose efficiency and performance. So you need to decide which way to go. You could have a gt engine rebuilt and bored out to give 1341cc, but any more means the cylinder walls are too thin.

what sort of cost would it be for a 1341 rebore on a GT engine? what sort of performance gains would it give? and gareth what sort of performance did your 1.4 Gt hybrid make?

I had a spare engine which is now away in the workshop getting work done to make it a Gt Turbo.

I dont have Much engine knowledge and its one of my mates who works in the place. Him and his workmates are doing it in spare time or when skiving as i would call it.

As i type the engine is getting soaked in an Acid bath so that it takes all the crap out of it, this also cleans up the outside of the engine as well. The next stage as im aware is getting it painted to protect it.

The turbo is already for it, it came off an Escort RS turbo and has been rebuilt with new parts added.

Please don't take this the wrong way.......

I hope it isn't in an acid bath - it plays havoc with alloy - chemical clean is what you mean (I hope  ) and yes if you are going to get an engine really clean inside it helps a lot

I Think it will be chemical clean, Its an engine workshop and that what they do with the engines they are rebuilding. So it probably is the chemical clean

I think the 1.4 GT is a better option than the 1341. you can always do both though...

as for performance results, my car will be in a similar tune to yours bar the cc by the rr day in jan, so if youre there as well we can compare results!

yep i'll be there, and i will run it aswell to try and see what sort of power they reckon it's running at, although it's been a td rough recently and sometimes feels down on power! i think its that afm playing haoc, my idle is all over the place and i have stalled a few times as it has dipped just as ive gone to pull away, almost got t-boned cos of it earlier!
