gti chipping

i'm still looking for a polo gti - decided on it over a lupo gti for all the times i'll be sat in manchester traffic jams i can play with buttons on the dash and all that.
given that the polo is a heavy car and as discussed the 106 gti would beat it to 60, i'll have to get mine moving quicker, quickly (when i eventually find one) as my peers have 106 gti, 306 gti-6 and an integra (which i dont hope to race, that will be a case of just letting him hit 14,000 revs and zooming off - then waiting for him to refuel, which he as to do, very often)
so, what options are available in re-mapping the engine?
i know the lupo needs some piggy back ecu stuff - i'd much rather not have anything like that, as i dont really intend on telling my insurance company about the chip, should i get one done - cos well, i cant be bothered.
(nb: all my other, visible mods, are decalred on my mk4 and would be on my gti when i ever find one)
