Did the recall for the pedal box problems affect all Polo GTI's? I am looking at a 2001 on a 51 plate and wondered if this would be affected or if the problem was rectified on later GTI's.

Cheers

unfortunately it affects all of them as far as I know. Just make sure its done on the car and it shouldn't be a problem, after having a new gearbox and clutch assembly twice the recall has finally seemed fix the problem :)

Yep, it definitely affects all Polo GTis made. I think the GTi was made from '99-'01, so a 51-plate is a pretty late model. It should still have had the work done though.

There are a few other threads on this subject, you might have noticed, and somewhere in one of those is how to tell if the recall has been done. I think its something about an orange sticker under the boot liner??

HTH

Not sure if all dealers did this....... When i asked about proof on the car that the recall work had been done my dealer gave me a certificate to keep with the log book etc... The certificate just had all the info regarding when the recall work had been done. So it's a big possibility that differant dealers handled it in differant ways.

Cheers

I got a regular "work done" receipt to go with all my other documents. Haven't looked for a sticker

I spoke to the salesman over the phone and he says the pedal box hasn't been changed yet. He says it is booked in for tomorrow and it will be logged on Volkswagens main computer and a copy will be put in the car.

The garage is 370 miles way so they are delivering it to me. If I am not happy with it he says I will get a full refund.
