Howdy All,

just in case anybody has been having problems getting their recall done on a non-uk GTi, I've just had mine cleared for the work at the third garage of asking - it turns out that you need to have your car put on the UK VW register, all you need is your log book, (which has to have been stamped for the initial inspection by the European garage) and your V5 reg document..

Unfortunately it was like drawing blood from a stone with the first two garages, but the third have been excellent, and the car's having the work done next monday..

If anybody has been having any problems with an import i'll happily PM you with the details of the garage that are doing the work.

You could try calling the VW Recall Campaign helpdesk and they'll be able to give you advice on it , the number is 01908 601243. - you do need to have your car on the vw uk register, not sure if you actually need it to be registered in the UK (if this makes sense??)

The problem you discribe might be the pedal box, the reason it was a problem on the GTi is that it has a much heavier clutch, so more stress was put on the bracketry of the pedal box.. The thing it's more likely to be is that your linkage is misaligned, the dealers have got a tmeplate that they use to re jig it
