it'll be a sad time in jan, as i'm saying farwell to my Polo GTi. But it'll be a happy time as well. As i'll be saying hello to a new car. A Mini Cooper S. I think that they're great little cars, just wondering what everyone else thinks of them.

Beautiful cars, absolutely wonderful.
However, I assume you're talking about the new ones, which makes it a different matter altogether ;)
Nah, seriously, nice car, good choice, they are very cool.. I just love the old ones though :)

I had a "classic" Mini 998cc before the Polo - it was fantastic :D fair enough a bit gutless at the top end but she would cruise at 70 happily once there! But that wasn't really what it was all about, it was a town/city car, and was unbelievably great fun zooming about town... I miss the Mini for that but have to say now I've had the GTi for 18 months, theres no going back

As for the new one, well at the 2000 Bham Motor Show I stood about with a bunch of other Mini owners and had a good moan  however I've since realised that the BMW MINI is actaully a good little car. So fair dos, have fun!

Don't forget to tell the next owner of your GTi about UK-P!!

Cheers

be interested to read your long term review vs the polo :)

seeing as everyone and their dog amongst those wot i know thinks they're fantastic. and i must say im a bit swayed too. though they're simply too big and too high - need to shrink the body by 18" to a couple feet, the roof (and floor pan?) by 9 to 12 inches, and the engine by a third... shouldn't anything "mini" be a Lupo rather than a Golf competitor?

glad to see lots of ppl have an opinion on the cars! I'm looking forward to the healthy 170bhp n 7.2 0-60. My GTi is kinda up for sale not official got round to it yet but would like around 6k but any offers welcome. Hope i'll still be welcome on the site even though i won't be a polo onwer any more as this is the friendliest group of ppl around!

Damm right

- don't want a red (sorry dubpolo) or silver one (sorry everyone else it sems  ) so in the absense of a white choice BLACK is it

- 5 doors is out - have plenty of 4/5 door cars already

- Must have leather and AC

Shouldn't be too hard to find one

Did I sorry Dubpolo - I didn't know you had a poverty spec one

still (says in the way of an aside - all those toys means a lot less weight so yours should whoop ass any of the other ones loaded down to the gunnels with chilled air electric everything thick glass sunroof and heavy leather trim)

Don't forget if you can't have more horses make the ones you do have work harder for you......

- Perspex windows
- stripped out carpet and sound deadening
- binicle dash
- no rear seats
- no rear wiper
- single front wiper
- side exit straight throu exhaust
- no door cards
- no rear 3/4 trim or parcel shelf (or shelves)
- stereo or speakers (you won't hear it anyway)

Remember if it doesn't make it stop go or steer and you don't need it to drive it - it's an extra and its dragging the bhp away

So next year the new Polo style will be stripped out and rally slagging it

Fully expecting some sod off replies here

So tempting to do that if only to get rid of the nasty rattle that mine's recently developed.. I've put sound deadener in my toolbox, taken everything out of my glovebox and random cubby holes, tightened all the screws I can find and it's still there.. I'm thinking if I just rip everything out, there'll be nothing left to rattle! :D
