hey guys,
does any1 know if theres a law on under car neons?

my mate has been stopped by police because he has blue undercar neons.
one said they can be on , but not on flashing.
one said they cant be on at all.
one said they cant be on because its blue...
(all on seperate occasions obviously)

so if it was a different colour, wuld they mind?

Merry Christmas every1!

As far as I understand it, you can have neons fitted no problem. The issue is when you have them turned on. AFAIK, you can have them on when parked up stationary, but if you're on the move, they should be turned off. If you have blue neons, you'll get more attention from the feds, because you can be booked for impersonating a police vehicle, or something along those lines.

Just to add a little more confusion to the whole matter, every policeman will probably see the matter differently - if you get a cop on a bad day he could make you remove them or impound the car... you never know!

So really, bottom line is; don't go for blue, and use them sensibly!

i have only had problems with grumpy 50 mate.

They saw the neons which attracted them to me....but then saw my plate and pulled me because of thta.....as long as it is not blue and you cannot see the physical tubes (only casts a glow on the floor) then they are legal.....if you can see the tubes you need red at the back...orange at sides and white at front

hpe this helps

Si GTI was spot on - you can only use em for show purposes - i.e. not on public roads.

ah see ive heard diff

some guy researched into it all when his son got pulled n fined for havin em on.....wrote a letter to some1 n got it overturned

unless things have changed since then....as long as all u can see is the reflection on the road your safe....whatever the colour

if u can see the tubes directly then its illegal

i don't think that'll work though, cause it al depends how low a person is compared to the car!

for example, a policeman could pull u up and say that he can see your neon bars from his car, but when stood next to the car, u could say, well i can't! its an angle thing! i think there is too much option there!

The problem is worsened if you run neons under a standard bodykit - more often than not, theres not always enough clearance for the bars, therefore they are visible, therefore possible fines await :(

I think though that most kits now are LED, which are much slimmer and, as a bonus, much more resistant to everyday use and abuse, you know - getting hit by road debris and going through puddles and things - so the upside is that these LED kits can be fitted under an otherwise factory-looking car and you *should* be able to get away with it... plus with LED technology they're brighter, and you can get more advanced kits that pulse/strobe/dance to your ICE and neat touches like that 8)

Still, its gotta be on the right car hasn't it - I like the idea but on my car they'd look very out of place!

thats the point tho...as long as u hide the tubes well enough...it wont matter

hmmm i thought u could only use them when either stationary in a car park and for show use only. All my mates who have had them on while driving have been pulled. i didnt know it had anything to do with the tube showing or not :?

i was under the impression unless you ran white at the front, red at the back and orange at the sides - you cant have neon

would be nice to believe that you can have them if its only the reflection is visisble - so i'll stump for that - what harm are you doing in that scenario?

as for nitrous - you can have it fitted to your car on the roads.

though I dont think your allowed to use it - though I dont see why not, its only like having a turbo charger on your car.

But you do have to have a sticker on your car, as you'll be carrying a bottle of compressed gas in the car so you'll have to run a compressed gas green sticker - like lorrys carrying chemicals do.
