If you are going 239, you can source the 'VW II' calipers from some Scirroccos and then theres the G40 (obviously). I think Dom (Optima21) was then able to use his GT carriers with those. Not sure if there is any modification required.
As for 256 Think you can source those from Audi 80s?
Karl.

have you changed over the master cylinder over yet?
Wouldn't mind knowing how to do it ready for the summer.

The master cylinder is a bit of wierd one. I'm going to stick with the standard size m/c as it gives better feel. Some people say it reduces pedal travel but it shouldnt do any more than the normal one. You have more braking power but less feel, don't know if thats a good idea. Some people like to fit the bigger m/c with the 256mm setup as the calipers are bigger.
I'm going to fit the following on my new gt:
brembo oe vented 239mm discs
raicam pads
pitstop braided hoses
Motul RBF 600 fluid
new rear cylinders, shoes etc
it's already got a suprisingly keen pedal and one click on handbrake but it doesnt mean the brakes are good, e.g the front discs and pads are about knackered

yeah if you're using 239mm vented disks, you just need the calipers that are marked VWII. as they fit straight on the carriers. you can even use your old brake pads as the are the same shape as the G40/ mk1 golf GTI ones, but they are thinnner than new GT ones.
