Hi all,

I have a Polo GTi and it makes this strange humming noise when i stop. Now it had the BIG service from VW and before it went in for the service it was making this noise as well. Now they change the brake pads so i thought that could have been the problem but.........its still happening.

Now i've see nall this business about the clutch problem and i know the car had the clutch recall work done about 7k ago.

Its not a really loud noise but its louded enough to hear everythime it decides to crop up.

Thanks all

Gemma (using boyfriends account)

Could it be?

Exhaust? Perhaps you have a small hole in it somewhere... maybe near the manifold or perhaps in a join? Otherwise, could be air getting in the engine somewhere where it shouldn't - checked the hoses to the air filter etc?

hi
is it just as you're coming to a standstill or everytime you hit the brakes (spose you can only hear it when travelling slowly anyway?)

Is it a vibration noise... can you feel it through the car?

Only does it when you hit the brakes. Doesnt do it everytime though. Its a low pitch hum. like if the pads were getting low.
