I was recently speaking to another member and mentioned my "powerbox" which i understand are not easy to find in the uk. I may be able to get some at a reduced price if a few people are interested >10 the standard retail is 380 euro for any coverd petrol engines plus shipping, i have no idea how much of a discount will be available. however postage will be extra.
the info is as follows:

only 5 wires to connect removeable
specific to engine model
5 year guarante
gains of 13 hp on most models
removable (no peranant damage)

i can personally vouch for these products as i use one on my daily driven 1.4 8v, it allows me to pull away from 30 mph in 5th gear

after some initial consultation we may be able to get these for 350 euro a piece £210 which means £14 per hp not bad eh

A guy at work with a Saxo and his brother with a Focus (no moaning about non-vw's being mentioned please ) are interested in getting one of these each... I think everyone else is a bit sceptical about them, because they've never seen one before...

Polo2k... maybe a bit more speil on what it does, how it does it, how to fit, photo's etc etc might make people a little more interested!

For £210 (remember that's £210 for 13 or 14 more bhp!) I think it's a very interesting device!

Could someone confirm if these boxes would fit my VW Bora 1.6.

They have a Mk4 Golf 1.6 which can use the box. So i take it my would be ok as they are the same engine. If this group buy goes ahead put me down for one please.

Yup, very interested here. Anything for a bit more oomf! Just wouldn't mind getting the actual car first.

After many a night spent on the internet looking for a super chip for my Polo GTI I came across the forum (which is excellent). I have read the information you posted on the site about the power box and I am really interested in getting one.

The only thing I am concerned about is how I would get it fitted.

I am an instrument engineer so work a lot with electronics doing a lot of soldering and splicing but don’t know a lot about cars. Would I be able to fit it my self?

If not would you be able to recommend any one from around the Middlesbrough area that would be able to do it for me?

My car is currently under warranty but this runs out at the start of august so I wouldn’t wont it till then.

The Power Box is like a tuning box which many people fit to TDI's. It will not give you much more bhp at max rpm; however it does give more torque in the midrange, and in my experience, a very smooth power curve and flat torque throughout the rev range. This results in better drivability.

My petrol consumption has remained stable.

I have spoken to both Superchips and Revo, both have advised that their solutions will not provide much more max bhp on a normally aspirated vehicle, but will improve drivability. I can assume from what they have said, that the Power Box will be similar to these other solutions. Remember that neither Superchips nor Revo provide an upgrade for the Polo GTi!

If you are confident with soldering and automotive electronics, the job is not difficult; however it is strongly recommended that a professional installs the box. The 5 Year manufacturers warranty is only valid if the box is professionally installed. The job should only take a professional around 1 hour.

There is little chance of any problems if the detailed instructions are followed to the letter.

Price for a normally aspirated petrol car is £256 inc. vat and special delivery. A big saving over buying direct from the manufacturers!

With regard to a fitter near you, I don’t know. JBS Auto Designs in Chesterfield fitted mine, however that’s a bit of a trek for you!

Any reputable auto electrician should have no problems, however if you have a local VW Specialist (not your dealer) they would be a better bet (they can then check/delete any fault codes on the ECU before fitting etc)

To be honest, fitting is a piece of cake if you can solder/splice wires etc, but you may not be able to claim on the unit’s warranty if you fit it yourself.
There are only 5 wires to solder IIRC… You remove about 1cm of plastic from 3 wires going into the ECU, then solder 3 of the Powerbox wires to them (obviously then you have to insulate 100%)… Then you cut 1 wire going into the ECU then solder one Powerbox wire to one side of the cut, and another to the other (hope you’re still following me!)

Then drive around for a couple of hundred miles and feel the increase in mid-range torque!

probably wont need the powerbox if you have Emerald management.

but what version of Emerald will you be running? the one i'm looking at needs a laptop to be set up as you set it up on software then download it to your car. Powerbox is a 'plug and play' device, you put it in and away you go. no time on the rollers and no lengthly installation
