A question..

What do you do when, coming home from the pub, you notice a pristine black golf with a slightly less pristine front end wrapped around a fence post and in someone's garden hedge, the golf belongs to a friend of yours and it's 1:00 in the morning? I don't really want to ring and make sure he's ok, because he probably is and he'd probably not be happy about being woken in the middle of the night after writing off a car that he's put a huge amount of time and effort into.. but if he's not I don't want to just leave it.. he wasn't in the car when I found it, so I assume he must have been alright.. just don't really know. Not the best of things to come across after a nice night out...

Just realised that it's 1:20am on a saturday, no one's going to be around until the morning when I can actually phone him anyway.. never mind, I'm sure he's alright, he must have spun before hitting anything which would have slowed him down a fair bit anyway, didn't look like he would have been injured.. just paranoia I think. Was a bit of a shock seeing his car wedged into a hedge though..

Well, he's alright, doesn't seem too badly shaken up by it.. basically he was being a bit silly and hit a hump backed bridge too fast, lost control and somehow managed to end up round the corner, quite a long way down the road with a fence post where his radiator should have been.. saw the car this morning and I think it's going to be a write off, but he's optimistic about getting it back together.. we shall see.
So yeah, just me being a touch paranoid really, sorry about that.

remembers the last time i got a bit silly

and ended up facing the wrong way on the road and being very lucky with it

I tried ramping that bridge yesterday out of sheer curiosity as to how he did it.. I couldn't physically hit it hard enough to get more than a little bump out of it, and that's on a car with leaking shocks and cheap, skinny tyres.. he really must have been hammering it, silly boy..

yeah even with a severe looking bridge you have to be really caning it to get daylight

the slowest i think i've had it has been about 45-50mph, on one that feels quite sharp at 25mph,and only after making sure its a safe place to try it out

mind you if he's modded it and dropped the suspension he wont have to get the body anywhere near as far off the ground for the wheels to lose grip

Nah, he had great plans of modding it, but he was still on sofa-like standard GL suspension. Tyres were nice and wide as well, if a little worn, so I really don't understand how he lost it.. must have been wet when he did it, and he must have been caining it..
