Looking at that web site, mine is 16V spec, but a 75BHP engine. It has all the trimmings, including A/C and CD from factory.


The 75 BHP is a 16V engine, A/C and CD were optional extras.



So far I have noticed a couple of inconsistent trims.
1) some cars have delayed interior lighting some ...

1.4 60BHP is a 8 Valve engine will have 1.4 MPI on the plastic engine cover

1.4 75 BHP is a 16 Valve engine will have 16V on plastic engine cover and will have rear disc brakes.

S and SE were available with both engines.

Remove one torque screw from the centre under cluster visor.

When i took it into vw they say it souynds like something pinging about in the gear box

Have had Polo's with a knocking worse when cold but normally they get quieter when hot, did have one that knocked badly all the time and that had a new short engine under warranty.

Most of the MK5 Polo,s we sell do have the crunching you describe, according to VW their factory manual states that you may have to wait up to 10 seconds before selecting reverse to avoid crunching.

If the car is under three years old and has had the servicing done by VW I would expect it to be covered, check with dealer before letting them loose on it as you may get an unexpected bill, if it is not under warranty to keep costs down I would recommend taking it to a VW specialist rather than a ...

We have had quite a few cars with a taping noise coming from the gearbox usually when you are stationary and depress the clutch the noise goes, it has never caused us a problem so we have not investigated it further.
