Re: new springs results in uneven ride height

Yes,both seated at bottom ,end of pigtail in position, top ,they just sit under mount .

Hopefully a week or two driving will help them settle .

new springs results in uneven ride height

Just fitted 2 front springs ,drop links and a top mount bearing o/s .

Car is def about 10 mm lower on drivers side .

I know the new springs need to settle but I`m thinking could low tyre pressures be the cause .

ps , far too cold to check pressures at the minute .

Front spring options

I have a snapped nsf spring . I`ll be changing both sides ,but ,which do I fit . The car is a sport model 1.4 tdi . ECP have 3 spring fitments ,standard ,bluemotion ,sports suspension . Their sports spring however is the same part number as fitted to a petrol version sports model, surely this can`t ...

Re: A word of warning

The Lemforder bush did not fail .It was the Qdrive console bush that went ,it came fitted with a non uprated bush .The n/s bush ,a Lemforder uprated ,is still going strong 3 years on . The o/s rack end was changed last year at 120k ish .The n/s was changed before I got the car . Cam belt is next on ...

Re: A word of warning

Lemforder was fitted . Just after purchase both bushes were replaced with the uprated Lemforders. The N/S bush is fine after 23k miles .

Nearly forgot .Changed front pads n discs a few months ago .Pagid parts were used .Just the weight of the discs alone was surprising .Will deffo use Pagid again .

Re: A word of warning

Q drive is the make of the console . If its anything like Project Drive that Rover brought in then its no wonder it didn,t last . Do the poly bushes affect the ride quality very much ? I was surprised how easy it was to change the bush without removing the console .When the bushes were changed just ...

A word of warning

Well its MOT time again and a quick pre check revealed a few things , o/s track rod end ,but changed both as they were cheap enough ,and the o/s rear w/bone bush . Now considering trhat the whole console was replaced last MOT and the cars done less then 10k miles I was amazed at the state of the rea...

Re: dangerously slow front wipers

Both spindles had the O ring seals under the C clips but the drivers side had a sort of top hat rubber seal/cover ,nothing on pass side though.
I have a spare linkage from a Rover 45 ,that has a much better rubber cover on the spindles ,I`ll check to see if they fit the Polo .

Re: dangerously slow front wipers

No rust at all on either joints .It was the actual spindle itself that was seized ,took a good 15 mins in a vice to separate it .I`ve smeared a good bit of grease on each spnindle to try and stop this reoccuring . Considering VWs supposed build quality ,there is very little protection from the eleme...

Re: dangerously slow front wipers

Eventually removed linkage to find drivers side seized .All cleaned and regreased both spindles ready to refit tomorrow weather permitting .
Strangely only the drivers spindle has a rubber cover over the c clip .

dangerously slow front wipers

Trouble again ,wipers this time . Very very slow even when blades are lifted from screen . Its just happened ,no gradual loss of speed ,so I`m thinking its the motor .Would VCDS pick up a faulty motor ? Anyone had this trouble before ? Would the motor/linkage from a similar age Ibiza be a straight s...

Re: Power steering warning lamp

Car is now back on the road . After considering a recon pump I found a guaranteed working used pump for £45 .All fitted ,fresh fluid and it seems fine ,no PAS light on dash and steering feels lighter . I did a full scan and got 1 new code - 44 00816 power steering sensor (G250) 37-10 Faulty Intermit...

Re: Power steering warning lamp

Cheers Alex .I`ve checked every fuse in car and on top of battery ,all fine ,even the strip fuses . Ebay have used pumps with same part number for £60 ish .It looks an ok job to change the pump so if I can get one with a 30 day warranty it may be worth a punt compared to a recon unit . Regarding the...
