Re: Never happened before?

Speaking of convenience opening.

On the may out of the super market today I passed an X5 in the middle of the parking lot, with its tailgate open. I looked around, then pressed the close button and went on my way 8)

I now hate myself for doing a good deed to a BMW driver.. but oh well.

Re: GTI - Removing opf/gpf but staying with the cat

Purely physically, it's absolutely possible. The OPF/GPF is a completely separate device from the CAT. I have first hand experience with this, as I did a resonator delete on mine. Technically however, I'm pretty sure its a dead end. There are sensors before and after the OPF/GPF that measure 'stuff'...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

Think this started on my GTI today. Morning commute to work is only 3 miles. The car seemed a lot louder than normal and a lot more 'jumpy' as if it couldn't decide what gear to be in. Also noticed a bit of a weird smell when I parked up at work and the fans were pretty loud. Going to take it on a ...

Re: Beats audio system installation

What exactly comprises the beats system? Is it just a plug and play bass box with badges for standard speaker grilles, or are the 6 speakers in the car upgraded? Is there a separate amp or uprated head unit? If it's the former then the aftermarket version will be as good as the standard factory bui...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

I'm curious since I have approx 18000KM's on the clock and havent seen this regen thing pop up and fuel economy is more or less a constant now. Does it depend how one drives that determines if a regen is required or not? I would strongly believe so. My commute contains primarily city driving with l...

Re: Anyone had forced GPF regens yet?

I believe my GTI went through this last monday at about 5000kms on the clock. The symptoms are: Higher fuel comsumption Increased resonance in the exhaust. It becomes very 'boomy' Sluggish/hesitant performance Funny smell from outside the car The fix according to workshop: At least 20 mins drive Kee...

Re: Help! Rear wheel humming noise. Polo GTi

So i had mine in a few weeks ago, and they did acknowledge the sound was present, was given the usual song about its supposed to say that. (Yet none of my previous cars have done it, had two 6C’s) They wanted to update the ABS module, but I already had the newest software. Was sent on my way and the...

Re: Thinking of buying winter tyres?

I’ve always naught winter tyres for all my cars. Its just a sensible thing to do. No matter how well the roads are maintained it’s nice to know your car has the best possible grip, and there is a huge difference in braking distance on wet roads between winter and summer, even without any snow. Sure ...

https://www.willtheyfit.com You're welcome :) Input your sizes and you will get the differences, the poke, etc. Very helpful tool. I believe official statement is ET45. My 16" winter rims are ET48, and they are pretty much as far out as they can legally get while still being inside the fender. ...

Re: GTI and GTI plus owners experiences

And there is a way to stop the car being opened keylessly for when it is parked up. This is to prevent thieves using clever tech to steal your car. I have however forgotten how you activate this mode.( I do not really need it where I live) I also note that on later cars the key plipper de activates...

Re: GTI and GTI plus owners experiences

Been offered a nice GTi+ today in a part ex deal... the only issue i have with it is the alloy's are the standard 17" wheels .... just need persuading Better ride than the bigger wheels? 17” tyres are likely to be cheaper too than 18” when the time comes to replace the tyres (would depend on b...
