I'll answer my own question, the steering column does have to come out as it hooks around the pedal box to support tne bottom of the column. An awkward job but not too bad. Pedal box repaired with some 3mm plate and 8 5mm bolts. Total cost £3.88 for a plastic clip for the back of the brake pedal to ...
