Re: "Auto" Lights
From what I have gathered you need an adapting loom to go with the new switch, but the looms aren’t cheap

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
I was just reading an old thread regarding the heating of the mirrors, could it be a combination of bit 2 and 3 in the long coding as to why mine arent working do you think?

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
Mine is the gti version so the battery is located in the boot, there are some electronics in the engine bay and also some (I think) attached to the side of the battery. Not 100% sure.

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
I’m at a loss, I’ve checked the loom to the tailgate and it’s fine, no broken wires. Changed the fuses again just in case and still nothing. It’s all very strange
All other tailgate electrics are working fine

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
Check in Long coding if it's enabled. - Maybe there is an wire-ing connections and someone disabled the option so it doesnt pop a dtc fault.
I think under adaptations you can set the timer for how long the defrost function is going to be ON.

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
Mine had cloth tape but the wires were broken. Why dont you try taking some measurments on the defroster grid
You dont have any errors stored in bcm?
What happens when you turn the knob on the mirrors to defrost position?
Maybe it’s worth me opening the cloth tape then and seeing the ...

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
In the BCM there is an option to enable or disable rear defroster in long coding.
You should also be able to run output test on the derfrosters. If they work then you have a probbably issue with switch.
If it doesnt work then the issue in wires
I did run an output test and the led for the ...

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
I did check the fuses and it’s showing voltage at the fuse, I’m thinking it can only be either coding or a broken wire somewhere or bad Earth?amer6R wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 9:50 pm Get a probe test light, and see if there is power on the fuse, on the rear window defroster etc.

Re: Heated mirrors and heated rear screen
Are you checking for voltage on the rear screen and mirrors with the engine running? Both of these functions are high load heavy consumers of current.
Equally this could be a faulty switch ?
I’ve tried a new switch on both, no change. Yes engine on and running. No voltage at mirrors, haven’t ...
