Re: Paint chips

I can only echo the above replies. I had the diamondbrite protection applied at home by a car valeter as I know dealers cut corners. I’m very pleased I opted for silver. The best colour for no paint stress! My last couple of cars were much more interesting colours (deep red and navy blue) but showed...

Re: 5000K bulbs

The photos don’t do the lights justice. In person there is a vast difference in brightness and it is a crisp white light. First test will be tomorrow night when my shift finishes at midnight. The way home is an unlit dual carriageway then the M1. Xtreme vision https://i.postimg.cc/XJDCv1MD/279-F605-...

Re: 5000K bulbs

Right then, bulbs now fitted. I could tell a difference when looking into the light compared with the side I hadn’t changed at that point. Photos will follow tonight to compare with last night on the standard bulbs. Notice the mistake in the manual. Number 2 is in fact the dipped beam not the main b...

I notice that is the exit from parkway VW - I don't suppose you work there? :)
Afraid not. I’d just been to collect my Polo having had the screen replaced due to the dead pixels fault.

A mistake but no intervention from front assist

I have to admit my mistake here. I was looking right at a car out of shot which was approaching and left it late to indicate left. I did look ahead to check all was ok and observed the Mercedes clear the roundabout and that all was well or so I thought. Lesson learned about expecting the unexpected ...

Re: 5000K bulbs

After careful consideration and reading this, I’ve opted for Philips X-treme vision bulbs. Excellent reviews, a whiter light and more brightness on the road. Should have done this before winter but hey ho! How does everyone find the fitting process? I’ve had mixed results with cars over the years. S...

Indeed. I’ve just checked and the price is estimated at around £1500.

Re: Interior trim

Yes that was what I was referring too and blimey that’s quite a cost for those wheels

I’ll ask the question but if it’s OTT price wise I’ll give it a miss.

Interior trim

This has possibly been asked elsewhere but I’ve been wondering about the interior trim colours. I wondered if the other trim colours can be purchased and fitted by VW. I’ve had the screen replaced today due to the known fault with dead pixels and they had to remove parts of the trim to change the un...

Re: Winter tires on Brescia

Big difference in stopping distances in the rain though. Could make you glad you invested if you pull up in an emergency stop whereas you would have failed on standard tyres.

Re: Winter tires on Brescia

^ don’t forget winter tyres are not just for snow. They would be a waste of money in the UK if they were only good in snow. I live on a main road which is a priority gritting route but still invest. Any conditions where the temperature drops below +7C and they give superior performance. I even paid ...

Re: Winter tires on Brescia

I've got a set of Hankook winter Icept RS2 fitted to 16 inch alloys - not been fully tested yet but snow expected this week...very impressive tread depth and grip. Will get the summers refitted in April, might buy a spare set of alloys or 16 inch steel wheels for the winter tyres to make it easier ...

Re: Difficult to start on hill without burning clutch

Just an observation on DSG on extreme hills. The gearbox itself is excellent and I wouldn’t want to go back to a manual now and it certainly makes life easier on hills. However, as it is not a torque converter box, it still has clutches of course and as such I encountered some clutch burn smell (but...
