Re: How do people fund their new Polo

@silverhairs I’ve not read the article, I can guess the predictable contents. Yes, EV charging is difficult for some. But why people who COULD switch to an EV use it as ammunition for not switching is beyond me. Why worry about others when YOU could switch. If I was retired I’d be going to solar pan...

Re: PCP or lease

In reality, there’s not much difference between the two. I’ve done numerous examples of both, people will tell you Lease doesn’t give you the option of owning the car at the end. Nonsense, lease companies will happily sell you the car. PCP lets you know what the buying price will be in advance thoug...

iPhone XR problems

Been a while, new job etc
Anyway, plugging my iPhone XR into the stereo is making it go haywire, anyone else experiencing this?
BT is fine, just hardwiring to enjoy apple play leads to it constantly rebooting and horrible noises.
I’m going to try a different cable to eliminate that.

Re: Knocking from rear driver side

You show people a VW, they still assume it's going to be better built - they've believed the hype/advertising/reputation/rumours. If you were to lead people blindfold to a completely debadged car, put them in it and ask them to guess the make - they wouldn't be able to these days. They're all much t...

Re: Weird clutch sound

I have a manual Polo.
I get a noticeable metallic 'knock' when I change into second at low speeds.
Like there's play in the transmission.
I don't feel it through the pedal or steering wheel (like it might be driveshaft related), but everyone in the car can definitely hear it.

Re: Knocking from rear driver side

I've come to accept that all VAG products rattle and squeak, there slogan should be vee rattle you! I agree. It's a total myth that VW cars are better built than other cars. Maybe decades ago, but not now, everyone else has caught up or passed them. My Juke didn't have so many rattles as my Polo, t...

They're pretty much the same car under the skin- probably same supplier of bushes.
Indeed, lowest bidder rubbish rubber, just like OEM wipers.

Not sure why you'd buy one over a Golf R.
Ease of access is the only real reason.
Many people just find normal saloons too low.
The wife complains about 'falling into' my Polo, it's a lot lower than my previous Leaf and Juke.
I do notice my back twinges more since getting it too.

Re: Sadly my parking space is under a tree

My side of the drive is close to a tree in next door's garden, I snap/cut any branches that overlap.
But my car still gets covered in sap, the paint can feel like sandpaper.
Meguiars gold class shampoo takes it off so easily it's comical, no effort at all.

Re: Thinking of remapping my Polo.

I have heard that the 95hp version is prone to valve destruction if pushed to hard with remapping. The 95bhp is so reluctant to rev up to the redline that I can't see how anyone could get to the point of valve destruction. Seriously, going anywhere NEAR the redline is just utterly pointless, it jus...

Re: Knocking from rear driver side

My R-Line has had a "wobble board" sound for a week or so, nothing I was concerned about until yesterday when it seemed to be louder, up to then it was almost like one of those noises you hear but a technician doesn't! I can't replicate it easily, going over a bump won't always cause it but it seem...

Can I use premium 100-octane fuel in my 1.0TSI 95hp without any side effects?
Yes, but why would you?
Money wasted.

Agree there, the S/S cutting in before the car actually stops is quite annoying.

Is blind spot monitoring standard on an SE?
Pretty sure it's optional on most/all models.
I still think your example of reversing out of spaces isn't at all what it's meant for.
It's not really meant to detect people coming at you from right angles, as that's not a blind spot....

I would have put money on you replying, likes the last word !!! You couldn't help mentioning my car in your reply, when just sticking to the point would have been fine. So, you know, get it right up you. :D I'm not even convinced blind spot detection would 'save' you in your scenario anyway. ...
