Re: Snapped chassis?

I wouldn't bother about the remap, but definitely back to stock suspension and exhaust.
Either of those visible mods may give them reason to say the chassis has been put under pressure 'beyond normal tolerances', or some such crap.

Re: Oops, car going in for repair.

But I would not have been comfortable with not informing insurers. insurers are their own worst enemies, there's a chance they will load your insurance as well as hers, you know. Their reasoning being that if you're involved in an accident, even if it's not your fault, you are more likely to be inv...

Re: Oops, car going in for repair.

Got the car back Friday, lovely repair, but today noticed the wing mirrors were not defrosting. So it's going back to have that fixed. Rang my insurer, and the other party has admitted liability. :D I feel sorry for the young woman who reversed into me, she was maybe 18 or 19, so her renewal will b...

Re: Tiredness indicator

Mind you, lane assist gives you enough time to send a text before you've to touch the wheel again.

Re: Tiredness indicator

These 'features' man... They cost heaps to develop, they fill up the brochure, then they're crap. :D My wife's Sportage has lane assist. It's quite creepy how well it works, you can take your hands off the wheel and it will keep you on track really well. But, obviously, it can sense you're no...

Re: Do I have cruise or not?

Anyway, back on topic. First long distance trip in my Polo, Aberdeen to Glasgow. I don't think I'll bother with the speed limiter again, found it far nicer just to drive the old-fashioned way and just watch the speedo instead. Set it to the digital speed display in the centre of the dash for ease of...

Re: 18 plate polo with no problems to date!

No need to guess. I'd be looking at what they go for that age/condition/mileage on the forecourt and aiming for 10% under it in a private sale. Of course you're guessing, looking at what the equivalent car is worth now is no indication of what a new one will be worth in three years from now. The ca...

Re: Do I have cruise or not?

Electric cars are still pretty impractical as a primary car for long journeys, Define 'long journeys' 200+ miles between charges is perfectly achievable now. And, according to Kia Niro owners, you don't have to sit at low speeds to get that, you can cruise at perfectly normal M-way speeds. One said...

Re: Difficult to start on hill without burning clutch

Nissan is not really Japanese, they went down hill once they partnered with Renault. They are not mentioned when people refer to reliable Japanese makes such as Toyota. My last two cars have been Nissan (Leaf and Juke) and were very good. Solidly built, no reliability problems at all. Seeing as you...

Re: Orange triangle exclamation mark means what?

Ok, so next time you see the orange warning you need to look at the central display to see what it's warning you of.
Going by the description of the weather at the time, I'm willing to bet the radar was "impaired", just like mine the other night.
Welcome to the wonderful world of VW front assist.

Re: 18 plate polo with no problems to date!

There is a way of making PCP and bank loans equivalent products so you can take advantage of lower interest rates with the loan. With a PCP you're covering 3 years depreciation and interest on what is owed on the whole car, on the assumption you'll buy it at the end e.g.:- Buy a £20k car that'll be...

Re: Orange triangle exclamation mark means what?

Could be the front assist not working? Happened to me yesterday driving through a blizzard. Too much ice over the sensor caused it to have a fit. You would think (hope...) the driver is noticing the great big message that comes with the warning light. Mine did it two nights ago and the main display...

Re: 18 plate polo with no problems to date!

I think you missed the point of my post or you're just arguing for argument's sake. The significant phrase in my statement quoted is "people tend to". Quite obviously in the case you give people should choose PCP. I was making the point that many people will happily pay for example 6% PCP when they...

Re: 18 plate polo with no problems to date!

Sensible advice. Apparently people also tend to take out PCP rather than a bank loan with a lower interest rate. I do ~25,000 miles a year so a 60+ mpg engine is well worth having compared to 50 mpg for example. I spend ~£2,000 a year on fuel. The simple fact of the matter is that PCP costs a perso...
