Re: New GTI + delivery

The usual modus operandi is for them to break into your home and ransack the house until they find the keys, or if the house is occupied threaten the occupants with violence so they can get the keys, and if you have a wife and kids in the home do you really want them beating up your family or ransa...

Re: Jeremy Clarkson and Binky Felstead plus GTI.

I remember the Allego well - horrible car (IMO of course). British Leyland used to make a big thing of the ‘square’ steering wheel they fitted to it. The Vanden Plas model with its upright, pretend Rolls Royce grill looked truly hideous. A fully restored Allegro Equipe is on my 'want' list. The Bri...

and the braking test was rather shocking how much better the Polo was!!
Could be the Polo just brakes better than the Fiesta, of course.
Could be something more cynical, it wouldn't be the first time a press fleet car is prepared differently from the cars you and I buy.
VW are proven cheats. :D

Re: What did you and your Polo do today?

All this talk of tyres tramping and stuff...
Get a 95bhp one.
The high gearing means the only wheelspin you'll experience is in snow.....
Floor it in first in the wet, not even the chance of wheelspin....

Re: New Polo On Top Gear

Whne I say quick review, the guy had maybe 20-30 cars arranged in a semi-circle and walked round the lot in about 5 mins and gave a one line opinion of each. It would have been much better to devote say half a programme to the type of car most folk will actually buy rather than "let's see which is ...

Re: Front Assist?

Mine most triggers on a wall-lined corner on the way to work. The way the road is, there's a kink that means I have to make a movement of the wheel to the left. The car takes that as me deliberately driving towards the wall and applies the warning/brakes. The only way to avoid it is to switc...

Re: How to remove sticky residue on new car?

Interesting. I just had a quick google of 'Autosmart Tardis dilute', and every single result said to use it neat. I've used it plenty of times neat and its fine. Obviously common sense needs to be used on where to spray, not to let it dry out etc... but I've never had a problem with it. Spray on, l...

Re: Front Assist?

I've had this quite a few times in heavy rain. My concern is that the display telling me what the error was either didn't display at all, or was displayed so briefly I missed it. So I had to go into 'vehicle status' to find out what the hell was going on. If my wife were driving, no doubt I'd have ...

Re: How to remove sticky residue on new car?

You're not supposed to dilute Tardis. It's best used neat. Even if you did dilute it, Tardis is oil based so would separate from the water and sit on top. Really? Prior to buying it, every detailing website I saw said to dilute it. It smells to high heaven, I'd worry about using it neat in case it ...

Re: New 2018 Polo GTI faults

VW were a mightmare with us (the company) when trying to reject a lemon of a Scirocco. It broke down umpteen times, it spent more time in the workshop than on the road. They sanctioned a replacement engine, the faults continued. It took huge pressure from the dealer, who we gave a lot of car and tru...

Had to suffer a yellow warning light all weekend
"front radar vision compromised" or some such crap.,
Really doesn't much much in the way of snow to get this warning up at all....
Just some gentle sleet has it 'blocked'

Re: How to remove sticky residue on new car?

Tardis isn't trade only, I've got.
But I don't think anyone has mentioned diluting it.
You've got to dilute it, it's powerful stuff!

WOW. We are human. Humans make mistakes :) It's almost like your against technology. I love the safety features - particularly the crumple zones and air bags cars have these days. But i haven't been driving as long as you so i am probably inexperienced So far it's one of the best car's i have owned...

Re: New Polo On Top Gear

Haven't driven a Fiesta since our 2009 titanium 1.6tdci It was built so shoddily pieces of trim literally fell off inside the car, so we (I) vowed not to have a Ford ever again. But Fords, generally, do tend to drive/handle better than VWs, I suppose that's what they meant? Mine obviously isn't a GT...

Re: Race chip for the polo

No, it will not. A tuning box does not alter the manufacturers safety limits and worst case scenario, if some crappy tuning box will boost beyond the stock limit, you will get a error code and engine check will come up, but you will not exceed the factory limits. Thus... as long as the factory limi...
