I did mine through a grommet thats located behind the passenger side dash. If you get ur hands up and feel about ul find it! its easier if you get some wire, form a looped end and access it from the engine side... Just push the wire through, find it in the car, wrap the amp cable round the draw wire ...

No pics but the pollon filter is located where the windscreen wiper motor in in a black box. basically directly under the windscreen. you need to pull the grey plastic trim up a bit to access it. If you cant find it might be worth investing in a Haynes manual!

Oil leak!

Thought my polo was dying on Friday! i had noticed that it had been losing oil over the last couple of weeks but on Friday there was a huge puddle under the engine bay. :(

Though it could be the crankcase oil seal so I stripped the pulley off to see but it was dry....

So i put it all back ...

Mine did this and it ended up being a blocked pollen filter which is located at the back of the bonnet above the bulkhead under a plastic shield. Try removing it and then your fan should be running faster. If it is the problem then a new pollen filter is about £12 from VW!

Hope this helps

Yep, got a Pipercross induction kit for £75. Id go for one of these or a K&N/green. They are a bit more but you get the crankcase breather and all the correct fittings.... oh and instructions too! well worth it! :D

yeah, glad i could be of help diagnosing the problem. It could happen at anytime really although you woulnt expect it at 36k. Depends how the car was driven before you got it. If the car had been stood for ages you may get a whining noise. i had an xr3 and that was stood for about a month and ...

yeah that sounds like the dif bearing in the gearbox. The way to check it is if you drop the clutch on the motorway does the whining stop? if it does then it'l be the box. There not too reliable.... mine went at 80k.

yep, ive currently got one in a 96 1.6 8v GLX. Im just about to take it out though in place of a pipercross induction kit thats on order.
