induction

Post by Essex6N »

I want to fit an induction kit to my 1.4 8v, but I don’t want to spend too much money. What does everyone think of universal induction kits? Are they and good? Would the cheapest option be drilling the air box?

Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

G'is a chance!

I wouldn't bother drilling the airbox, no advantage in that at all IMO.

BMC kit is a universal jobbie, but comes at a cost (in the region of £150) so its not cheap. How much is a K&N 57i these days?

A cheaper universal kit is fine as long as it fits properly...

i got the k&n like a year ago and it set me back like round £90 or somethin. Wish i'd saved the little bit extra for the BMC!

ok i have a panel k&n filter an its ok but i hear the induction wud be good for the cold air intake, i wud honestly recommend a 57i induction an u can pick them up 4 about 50quid, around that price, dnt spend a fortune on 1, if u were gonna spend like 100quid on a filter why not just buy a new back-box

Yep, got a Pipercross induction kit for £75. Id go for one of these or a K&N/green. They are a bit more but you get the crankcase breather and all the correct fittings.... oh and instructions too! well worth it! :D

I’ve gone for the cheap option, I got a cheap filter off a mate and connected it to the end of the standard filter box, sounds alrite and makes my exhaust louder. Today at work i made a heat shield, looks good and didn’t cost me anything. My friend has a G40 and was telling me that I can remove the carbon canister which is located near the filter and would allow more cold air to the intake, has anyone done this?

ask at a scrappy see if you can get some. or you can buy it for like 20 quid from most motor shops i think.
