And your polo sounds well nice Bass Mekanik, bargain price for that spec, cheapest I've found is £5,795. and perhaps you should consider an RE SE12, they have amazing volume, I achieved 134.3 in a sealed box with 400watts RMS at 2 ohms.
Ive been doing audio for about ten years and have been through most brands that i can think of!!
I thought about the XXX comps but you NEED to run them in a sealed or ported kickpod to get the best out of them otherwise it really is a waste of money and they wont perform right- the standard RE6.5 comps are designed to run infinate baffle hence best for standard locations.
I have heard an SE and plenty of RE subs- thought about a XXX but would involve too much work to get the power right. (split charge, welding brackets in engine bay for larger alternator, 0 gauge cable etc) plus for the sort of port tuning i would look for (around 35-38htz) would mean enclosure would be huge- I dont fancy loosing the whole boot in this car as i always seem to do!
Reason for an Aliante is specific, small enclosure responsive SQ subwoofer, SQ of the XXX is spot on but very slightly clinical sounding sometimes- its almost "too perfect". I love the aliante as they have a little more colour in the sound - very accurate but feel warmer than the XXX. not to say i dont like the RE- far from it, i just think its better suited to a "louder" application.
I think my best recorded score was 142db on a termlab mic. was running three MTX thunder 6000 tens at the time with 600RMS up their backside
have had loudder installs since then- but never bothered getting them measured:)
To be honest I still have an avid interest in Audio, but when it comes to the big systems, i just dont have the time or energy anymore! (god i feel old!!)
also has a clifford concept 600 alarm, stainless steel exhaust (big loud for me- might go back to standard if i can bothered) Smoothed tailgate, debadged and smoothed bonnet. The original BBS splits have been treated to powder coated centres and they actually look REALLY smart like that (sort of like the old mk1 golf sportline alloys)
