I think you could get away with that come MOT time!

Looking carefully at the picture, the actualy tread of the tyre is in line with the lip of the wheel arch. Would be very marginal though

Looking really well that! Makes me wish I could afford to run a few cars, as I would have myself a Mark1.

Ive pondered the tread being in/out of the arch for ages, still couldnt say if it'd fail, but to be fair, the lip of the wheel is like 1" out - so i'd be surprised if it passed !!

as for side on pics, well, that'll have to wait a bit - until VW Festival this sunday maybe !

Glad you like it chaps.

Might pass if the tester was having a good day.. it'd only need a very slight flaire to make sure it got through though. Going to look pretty damn sweet :D

SteB: What size are the new wheels (they look like 7 x 13???) My Derby is on 7 x 13 RSL's, and i seem to have a bit less tyre and rim sticking out than that.

8x13s all round 8) and I get funny looks for it!

the extra width is really emphasised by the fact that theyre quite low offset - i thought they were 25, but i think after a half-arsed effort at measuring it, its more like 12.

The arches may get played with when i can finally afford to do the bodywork and paint... long time yet tho

If it does get painted, stick with what you've got now, love the retro stripes and that red is gorgeous. Certainly be a colour I would consider having for a respray.

Wheels look good to me, how bad was the MOT failure? Hopefully nothing too serious. Looks like you might need some serious arch mods to cover that lot!

Bloody hell, YES... Don't touch it again, unless it's to add chrome!

though it has a slight flavour of a mk1 fiesta XRi (shh! keep yer voice down) ... which isnt a bad thing lol

hang on, did you reverse one of those pics, or did the mk1s have a fuel filler on both sides?
