The over temp light should flash for about 2 seconds when you first turn the ignition off, then stop completely. If the light seems to be malfunctioning but the rest of the guage is fine, then it's the guage unit in the dashboard that needs replacing. The clocks are very easy to remove, dismantle and reassemble, it's all divided into blocks that just pull out once you've removed the circuitry on the back, which is held in place with a few bolts. I may have a guage lying around, in which case you're welcome to it, although I think that's one of the few pieces of dashboard that I don't have. I'll have a look anyway. A scrapyard would probably want about £1 for a temp guage though, if you removed it from the clocks before you bought it..
