Idiot Driver

Post by polopowah »

Another hot sunny day and yet another idiotic teenage driver trying to race me, happened just awhile back, was travelling down a B road when suddenly from nowhere this pug 306 is right on my bumper
2 in the car both swinging their arms about and swerving the car about, trying at every possible point to overtake me, at this stage i was thinking i better turn off because i dont like the look of this (not sure if he had anything against me, he didnt look peed off)
so i turn off up a country lane and guess what....he follows, getting so annoyed now that i just slow right down and let him past, as i see him nearly loose it on the next sharp bend,
about half a mile down the road i hear something, so i turn the music down just in time to hear a police car (volvo v70) scream past me, at even more idiotic speed than the 306 driver!
to cut along story short i drove a little further up the country lane and was flagged down by the police officers (i thought o no, please dont look over the car! my mind starts going into over-drive, LHD rear lights, illegal wiper and blacked out side indicators)
so naturally i pull over and he was really nice about it all, he asked me for the cars reg plate L sumthing, i couldn't remember officer i said, but the car was white and the driver had one passenger.
just hope they catch the bastid because he could well have killed someone other than himself, and then he would have got off lightly for it, as people do these days.

anyone had any similiar experiences as of late?
the hot weather tends to bring them out

not recently. it was christmas morning ( 2 o'clock) in a friends car, woman pulls out so we av to slam on brakes, she drives all over the place smashing into cars so we follow, she almost kills a cyclist. she stalls at a junction, we jump out and oper her door, pulll the keys out ad wait for police. she was about 5 times over the limit with her sis mum and dad in the back all hammered.
had to go court bout 3 weeks ago. pleaded guilty and looks like shell get a 6 month spell in prison. she was done for 6 offences, drivin no license, drivin under influence, failing to provide breathaliser, no insurance and 2 others

some people make you laugh how they could even consider doing something so stupid ans selfish

I got followed home not long ago by 2 skin heads in a Ford Mondeo, they were literally trying to ram me off the road, all of which started because i beeped at someone else and they misunderstood. So i calmly kept driving with them behind me, got my digital camera out, took 4-5 pics of them, then drove to the police station with them still behind me.

As I pulled into the station they speeded off as you would imagine but I filed a report for dangerous driving and gave the officer there pics! Turns out the driver is disqualified and the car was uninsured! Maybe this is why he tryed for 16 miles to take me off the road.

He should be having a visit from the police soon and could face a £5000 fine and (or) jail time. Thats my good deed done for the year :D.

heh it was probably me today ... rushing to get somewhere ... that or those i encountered.

could have done without the nonce in the black pug blocking my attempts to overtake, drifting close to the middle of the road to spoil the view when i tried to see round them, putting on their right indicator just as i grabbed a suitable point to pass them so i had to fall back even though they never did turn....... gaaaaaaaaaah...

shouldnt have set out so late but dippy types doing that when im not even tailgating them (not for more than the couple seconds it took to tuck in behind them after passing two other cars, then slowly edge back) or anything should go find some better passtime.

m8, but you could only file the report the police station, as you had some hard evidence?

lets say you upset some silly woman in a old banger, as you kind of cut her up overtaking on a two lane road, but had to pull in quick into her lane, because of parked cars (but not enough for her to warrant a horn, so nothing happened really) and then as you sped of, at the lights (now red, so stopped) she pulls up behind and gets her glasses out of her bag and a notebook and jots down your numberplate...

what could she do? nothing? no evidence, one persons word against anothers?

moron drivers

Post by laura_fairy_22 »

about 2 weeks ago, i reported a drunk driver. Just as he was about to pull out (reversing) the cop car pulled up behins him.. his face was a picture. shame it wasnt Xmas, or I'd got £500! *doh*

also, i know a guy who drives like you guys are describing. Needless to say i have washed my hands of him. but the funny thing is, he's running a site to promote safer driving!!! WHAT A HYPOCRITE!!!! One instance is, its throwing it down with rain.... he pulls handbreak turn on a round-about... its about 830pm, and the POLICE pull out after him. The driver, thinking it was me & the bf following him, slows dow (to 40 from about 65?) to pass the speed camera, and then whooshes off, cutting people up, swerving in and out of lanes, not pulling over for the cop car flashing him, cuz he thinks its us following him. they eventually stop him at traffic lights, breathalise him.. (altho he's not been drinking) run a vehicle check, (the car is blue, but registered silver), BUT dont even book him for speeding.... the reason is he walks them round to the side of his car where he "proudly" presents his IAM Sticker. This, my friends, is "apparrantly" a license to drive like a dick. If only the IAM KNEW what his driving was like, they'd take that away from himm in a flash.
The only thing the police did was make him inform the DVLA of the colour change. And that, is what a lot of good the police down this way are... I could tell you SOOOOO MANY stories of things that i've seen or been involved, least of all being trapped in an underground car park by what looked like the 'Gangsta Mafia', and beong scared witless... i could go on, but i'd probably use up all of the space on this forum!!

so, yeah, theres my little rant for the day... needless to say, there has been a big ruck over that guys behaviour, and the emails of abuse still roll in...

such is life of morons.... a sad and lonely existance.....

Whoa, I'm in the IAM and I didnt know we could get away with things like that.

Seriously though, I know the LAPD will give you a bit a of leanancy (?spelling? ) if they know your a member of teh IAM cus your supposed a "more knowlegeable and skilled driver". But I never thought he'd get away with basically running from the cops and seemingly avoiding arrest.

Goes to show how lucky stupid people are!

anyone know if you can get remote shutter releases for digital cameras?

i quite fancy mounting one (my current one, old one, freshly bought budget job etc) in the rear window to catch a nice snap of all the dicks who tailgate me around almost every mile of birmingham....

seriously, if you're in a single lane traffic queue doing 35 mph, just like the guy in front, is even a single car's length gap too much to ask? often i can't even see the numberplate... sometimes not the lights!

or just a bumpersticker saying Tailgate Me - Lose Your No Claims?

I don't know of any commercial remote shutter releases for non-professional cameras, but it wouldn't be hard to wire one up if it's just a cheapo old camera. Just bypass the current switch and run a cable a a new switch (or pair of switches if it's a press half way to focus job). Sounds like a good project though, I'd love to see the results. Make sure it's got a really bright flash as well so they know they've been caught..

I wouldn't recomend showing anything in the way of certification of how good or well trained a driver you are to a Police Officer after a tug when you've been driving like a twat - in my experience (and i have a little bit from both sides of the fence) they tend to react in a very different way ie - well you should know better and throw the book at you with a parting comment along the lines off show your certificate to the magistrate it'll really impress him after we show him the video of your driving!!!!
