I know this question may have came up many times but my car has a few modifications which i want to declare to my insurance company but am not too sure what the extra charges would be like.
So far i have the following modds:
Ibiza Splitter
Kamei Grille
Pipercross Induction kit
R/c Central locking
Hella Colour magic lights
Clear indicators and crystal repeaters (Mk5 style)
im planning to add some alloys and have a 50mm lower very soon. My company is Norwich Union and i have heard from someone that they are not very good with modds? any1 with modds and with norwich union that can confirm this? how much did ure insurance go up by? I beleive small modds that i have made are not that important. but the modds that im gonna do within the next few weeks: i.e. Alloys and lowering will need to be declared!
modifications and insurance

Id only declaire the alloys and lowering, not things like grills light etc.. especially not remote central locking. You'll be fine!
My last car was modded to f**k and it got broken into, the inurance payed out for everything, even tho i didnt tell them! I just said that i didnt realise they were after market! Its probably not in your interest because the value of the body mods is probably less then what your insurance will go up!
As for alloys etc, say that you were thinking of putting them on, how much would insurance go up, same for springs. You might find it doesnt! Mine didnt change with wheels and springs!
Phill.

mate what insurance company r u with
? i want to do that, but i heard they do random vehicle inspections, what if enquiring puts me up on their random inspection list, cos i may have alloys and lowering done. I dont mind paying upto £80 but no more, cos my insurance is around bloody £2k as it is
.
I enquired with my insurers (Direct Line) about fitting the B&M kit I've got and was told it wouldn't be possible to do it under the Ts & Cs of my insurance policy. This wasn't too long before my minor bump in April, and when the car went in for repair work I had no troubles whatsoever with them being extra vigilant or anthing, so I don't reckon a simple enquiry would put you at the top of anyone's inspection list myself
Like Phill says, stuff like grills, foglights and side repeaters aren't a concern because they're parts that can be found on other factory-spec models and you can be non the wiser about them. Alloys and/or suspension modifications should be declared though, also anything to do with the transmission and engine is kind of important! I guess it depends on the insurer and the specific type of wheels you're going to fit but you should be able to do it without a problem
I've got TT alloy pedals, aero wipers and a stubby aerial all fitted but undeclared simply because they're all items that could have come straight from the factory
