Pimp my ride uk!!
just finished watching pimp my ride uk on mtv, was brilliant! They pimped a 1961 moris minor, looks proper good. And guess what their pimpin' next week? A Mk2 Golf!! Make sure you watch people! (even if you do hate westwood)
You know, I was about to post an almost identical topic when I logged on just
No surprise that the job of turning these cars around went to Jamie Shaw & Carisma, he's turned out some astounding and truly unique cars and it looks like they're carrying on in the same tradition with the PMR UK series
It's a shame that the rumours of Xzibit coming over to front the show didn't materialise but Westwood is doing an OK, if slightly scary, job of it! The Golf Mk2 next week will be really interesting, I very much doubt it'll be euro-styled though!

Yeah true about the styling.Si_GTi wrote:It's a shame that the rumours of Xzibit coming over to front the show didn't materialise but Westwood is doing an OK, if slightly scary, job of it! The Golf Mk2 next week will be really interesting, I very much doubt it'll be euro-styled though!
Westwood is f*****g wierd man! he looks about 46, and his body language is so funny! All his 'gangsta' poses n stuff. Good viewing! Wheres the custom-shop located? Looks like their trying to keep the identity of it secret.
Theyve pretty much copied the US version exactly - even having a big dude called Biff to do the accessories, remind you of Big Dane?

I saw a preview...
...If you don't want to know the score look away now...
The paint job is black with red flecks, it actually looks really nice
. Red leather interior, I think it had an isotta vellalunga steering wheel (retrimmed - not for me
).
The show itself tonight was b*******s, but I was well impressed with the workmanship.
Everything they did to the morris minor be it the posing at the end with the surf board (mustang surf chick) and the headrest embroidery (anyone remember Big Rons El Dorado) had all been done in exactly the same way in Pimp my ride US.
Anyway really looking forward to the mk2 Golf and the rest of the series.

I was in stiches all the way through! Westwood is such an idiot, what was he trying to do while driving? He was jerking the car like a learner driver. His gansta/wigga attitude is poor, he's a bloody fool and my for one will be watching it again just for the comedy value!
The car was ok, the yellow painted graphics ruined it, very impressed with the interior but the headrest leather was a bit saggy.
Agree with polo_mf about it seeming very staged and acted out! They were trying to be too much like the US Series with Tim "Wigga" Westwood trying to be straight blazing init
and when the car rolls in all doing a loud sigh. Its just like the american version of the office, should have never have been done in a different country!!

Thing is Westwood sounds pretty much like that all the time whenever I've listened to him on Radio 1. He was pretty much how I expected him to be.
It was the Carisma team who, ironically, lacked any real charisma and so it all ended up looking very very wooden.
MTV shouldn't have tried so hard to make an exact copy of the US version as the culture difference is just too big

damn, would have liked to see the minor
anyway if westwood's such a bad driver theres always a chance he'll overestimate the braking power of some classic on teeny drums and spam it into a wall, simultaneously mincing and cooking himself.
(sorry, i find it terrible that such an eminently sad human being can be held as such an idol by so many... he's like the uberchav... his radio show sounds like a six year old with a - barely - grown up voice got hold of a pirate broadcast set and tuned it to radio 1's frequency*)
* yes, yes, i know, "where's your radio show then?"
(in the tape slot, when 9pm on a friday rolls round, thats where)

Yeah but that's the magic of Westwood! He's a lovable dickhead!
