Good effort sonny! I havent found the carb yet- but when I do its yours! Did the exhaust go together well? Thats what pisses me off when I tell people how well my 1.3 goes and they dont believe me  engine pics please....

pfffffft lol that'll be you sitting at or close to the limiter with the throttle wide open for about 10 minutes stiving to get that then? sorted :D
(6500 redline pretty much = 110 going by the gearing)

"not on flat" - downhill then?

not that i'm going to be disbelieving on you, just jealous as i never got more than 106, indicated. That's with a completely unmodified setup however (not even sure i had the revcounter at the time), filter and exhaust would probably just about give you enough horses for it on a good downgrade, mk2 aerodynamics-of-a-brick and all.

how could you tell it was 110 on mk2 clocks, though?

edit: (looks up Tenby in autoroute), ah, ok, that'll be within 40 seconds from a standing start on one of those severe welsh A-road hills then? (memories of pulling all of 45mph up one b*stard, in 2nd, on the way to aberystwyth).... the 478?

some of them do?

but 6500-6600 is a reasonably good indication of where the power fall off is in a 1-litre i think, and sits conveniently with where the ignition cut off is in a mk3 (i think they wired the limiter up as an emergency measure rather than a conservative long-term engine preserver there, as opposed to how it was in later models) ....... manual states to never take it over 6300 in either car in any case!

and yeah, thats some cracking acheivement for a 4speed .... get yourself a GT 5 speed in and see what else you can do (get it back in the proper power band above the ton, if only for a little while)

Some mk2's had a limiter, but it was only on the pre-electric ignition models (ie mechanical heads) and not all of them had it, so it's a bit of a rarity.
Mind you, the engine is pretty much physically limited to around 7,000rpm even when you've got no load on it, just by the restrictions in the standard setup.. found this out accidentally a couple of times

its a FULL ashley Compotition. including Manifold and rest of the system

has made HELL of a difference, it was OK to fit... but i had to drop the Anti Roll bar to get the Manifold in as it is one peice, not like the standard "cast" thing.

it sits a bit low t'wards the rear of the car, thats the only nigly thing, but i think it would sit better if the car wasnt lowered.... (they must not of thought about 40mm or anything lower) lol

sounds sweet tho... Zombie has got the same setup as me.... they do the job well to be fair! :D

110+ but you'll be screaming along in the red band for that!
I've peaked the 1.0 at 106 indicated (similar revs) for a few secs and that was scary enough

kudos if you have a limiter and ever manage to hit it in 4th or 5th... however you'll have to be brave (i think it was occasionally seeing if i could still do 81 in 3rd that truly killed mine! oil pressure just goes WHOOP and knackers the gasket - amongst many other problems that such RPMs create in an engine designed for laziness)
