Sliver, 2 owners, not sure about HPI it is in very gud nick! only got a service book, which has full vw service in. check if it has really been serviced a few days ago. just went in a vw dealership and they have all data on my car. (must have all the data around the UK), like when it was serviced etc.

Congrats to you, you've got one of the rarer models with leather! Not many of them around and I'm sure you have made a few of the members on here very envious! ha ha ha!

The cambelt, I believe VW suggest it be changed at 60k but I think it would be best to get it done a little earlier...well a lot at 40k-50k as some of the members, including me have had it go a lot earlier...might save you some money in the long term...

The EPC is a warning light that tells you if there are a anything wrong with the engine. It should come on when you start the engine for a few seconds and go out, if it comes on whilst driving then you should stop the car.

As for heated wing mirrors, I'm sure they come on when something else is switched on? Not sure, will have to check my manual...

Anyway, enjoy the car and hope to see you at some of the meets!

Welcome to the club :D

Yeah I had a hard time finding a GTi in the north-east, which was why I had to travel down to Huddersfield to get mine. Seems to be a real concentration of them in Manchester and Yorkshire.

And yeah VW dealers store information nationally on servicing, which makes it easy to check if stuff like the pedal-box recall has been done.

Just to clarify, I think that IIRC the heated wing mirrors will come on automatically dependent on the temperature being recorded by the external air temp. sensor (displayed on the instrument panel) - mine took care of themselves over the winter and demisted without me pressing anything apart from turning the heat on on cold mornings! :)

I didn't realise they did this! I thought they came on with the heated rear screen?
