oil light coming on

hello everyone

ive got a new fault which has suddenly occured after driving for about 3/4 of an hour the oil lihgt and buzzer come on if you blip the throttle it will go out but 5 seconds later its on again theres plenty of oil in engine and plenty getting up in the head, oil and filter were changed about 750 miles ago temp guage doesnt go up only to normal position could it be faulty switch or do you think its time to invest in something abit better have notice pools of oil under car but keep it topped up

Check your oil pressure senders are connected properly and functioning, that's pretty much all it's likely to be if it's got enough oil in it..

my oil light has been flashing (b4 u start it) since iv had the car!! and iv dun oil changes, and its neva run out!

cheers for replys i should get 1st prize for the to**er awards this year, i filled my car up with some petrol out of a 25ltr can the other day and forgot it was a petrol and diesel mix

, this caused a few props in running and filled the sump up with the unburnt diesel.
I had 6 1/2 ltrs of watery oil also found pressure switch leaked,so i changed oil, oil filter and switch last night so far so good also seems to have washed breather out cos im now at work and no oil has apeared fingers crossed.

theres no story behind this apart from i got it from a company near by who i know there new boy had took there new ford ranger to the garage and instead of filling it with diesel he put petrol in and i helped them drain it

Its designed to do that! Its when it comes on when the cars running that you should worry, as its supposed to indicate low oil pressure. Or it could mean a dodgy sender/wiring, but its best to be cautious with these things, oil is the life-blood of any engine.
