... the horn (!)

The horn, of all things. I mean I've never heard of that before -- the reliability of the horn just shouldn't be an issue on a modern car.

And to make things worse, it's not totally broken, just the lower of the two sounders. So now I'm left with a girly-sounding "iwanttoletyouknowimherebutdontreallywanttodisturbyou" sort of thing you'd expect on a Micra or a Ka.

Not happy. I need my horn. Especially with the standard of driving round these parts...

How did that happen?! Horns rarely break unless they have water inside of them or something and even then they SHOULD still work.

Did you mess about with it?

If not, could be a wire came loose, or a fuse and/or relay

Horns are a common thing to go on SEAT Leons. No matter how many times they are replaced they still failed.

If you want to change the horn yourself and have one with a low tone (I know I did, I was embarrased by mine) I can highly recommend the Ring horn that's sold in Halfords for Â£9.99.

i just fitted a pair of air horns and mople has them too so he might be able to help on fitting
oh and ps in italy they wear the horn ut in less than a yeah so in some garages its offered to be relaced at every service

I don't understand how it could have failed either. I would go and take the grille off round the fog light to see if a wire's loose or something, but my dealer might be able to tell that I've done this.

Anyway - I have to book it in for it's first service tomorrow, this is just another thing to add to the list of warranty work that needs doing at the same time.

I "heard" it fail (i.e. it sounded normal for a bit, then one sounder went while my hand was still pressed down) - I blame the metro numptie sunday driver that caused it all.

I'm just hoping it's not connected to my mouse incident -- I thought I'd got that sorted, unless they've got wise to the traps and the ultrasonic thingie...

Of course, my horn doesn't get used any more than anyone else's or anything

Hmm, I know there are two tones... One is the 'normal' horn and the other is the 'beep beep' one that goes when we lock the car?

Never bothered to check, I've never even used it! (rare thing where I come from)

Mine doesn't go "beep beep" when you lock it. I don't think any of the UK polos do - anyway that'd be the alarm sounder.

The horn - I think anyway - makes two separate sounds simultaneously to give it a "beefier" sound. Think about the sound of a musical chord compared to the sound of a single note - that kind of idea.

I think that's the horn (to the bottom right of the circle) anyway.

Anyways I remember the salesguy telling me that my car had some sort of dual-horn or something that Base Polos didn't have. I think that's what we're talking about here.

On ETKA, there are dual horns and single horns listed. Mine had a naff single horn, so I fitted a pair of dual Fiamms. Yours must have the OEM dual horns! Hope this clears things up...

Im just trying to catch up after 2 weeks away. Very hard these days!!

in that pic on the link it is indeed a horn and its of the wind tone tipe which is the closest to air horns without a compressor
