The nail's MOT runs out in 3 weeks time.
The engine is still not fixed, after me being, quite frankly, f*cked about on the piston rings issue (cheers GSF) and now I might not be able to trust the new bearings i fitted neither.
I'd really like to get it running, run in, and re-MOT'd if at all possible. I don't know if i'd want to take it for MOT WITHOUT running in, as they do some fairly recon-engine unfriendly things e.g. during emissions tests.
So .... can anyone help at all?
Just knowing that my bearings are ok, and sourcing somewhere for the rings will do it.
In a pinch, someone who has a suitable spare engine, or a "short" (block+pistons+crank all ready to go, with my head & gearbox etc) and some way of getting it fitted. I'd have been prepared to lift it in myself a few weeks back, but shifting god only knows how much weight of lead (literally) at work has left the ol' spine feeling a bit delicate and in need of rest.
Otherwise, it's seriously either going for scrap, spares/repairs to anyone who may have a suitable power unit or parts to put in it, or i'll break it myself and find some strong people to help me heave the bodyshell into a skip.
Which is a damn f*cked-up shame considering the only problem at the moment is in one, maybe two sets of ten-quid parts.
