Rattling brake caliper

Post by richandhazel »

Hi,
My nearside front brake caliper rattles when I go over small bumps in the road. Anyone had this before? The bolts through the bushes into the carrier are nice and tight, however there appears to be some play between the bolts and the bushes..........are the bushes known to wear?

I've tried bending the springs on the pad anti rattle retainers but doubt very much that they will help so I'm open to ideas. TIA.

had this problem on the g40 brakes i had on my old GT. was the anti rattle springs that tension up the pads.

Well I'll be damned, I think you're right. All I did was bend them slightly so that they were working as they should do again and the noise has gone! Nice when an easy, cheap fix actually works :D

Yeah, makes more of a difference than you might think, I had the same problem on mine.
