That's looking very interesting... Where's the ECU - is it relocated to the interior somewhere?

(BTW - did you get that PM?)

An, on a related note, recevied this in an email with VW this morning:
You will soon hear of developments with the GTI...
:D Deek.

the ecu is in the scuttle panel behind the black panel on n/s
the TT clocks are where the airbag used to be on the n/s, i had to put the TT clocks in for the transponder
it never cost that much to do as i did most of the work apart from getting the TT harness converted to plug into the polo fuse box

deek i am sure i replyed to the pm :?

Phill.
The 150hp engine is just as tunable as the larger powered models, but were alot more realiable.

Why do you need more than 200hp in a front wheel drive hatchback anyway?

180hp would be avalable witha s imple remap anyway, so its not a big problem.

VW couldnt have given the car any more than that as it would have taken buyers away from the Golf.

Also I have heard rumers of a R Polo that may be built.
That would be intresting

the battery is now in the boot

may have been able to squeeze it into the front but it looks betta in the boot

the polo clocks are all in place and fully working, getting them to work with the audi stuff was the trickiest part of the whole job because of the candata bus system the polo runs

i went for a TT engine so i can put a bigga turbo on at a later date without having to worry about the bottom end

200 bhp plus in a fwd is good fun and useable
mine will be 225bhp + with the other mods it has and is very good fun, 1st gear is is over before your foot hits the floor but from then on i can get the power down no problem
it will be around 350bhp when i can afford it
it will have a lsd by then too

Rember the quickest 1.8T in a FWD car only had 150bhp.
It was in Ian Carvels 1.8T Lupo Cup car.
Mapped by Jabba Sport, they gave him 150bhp from 2-5k rpm.
He used to be able to go around the track corners in one of three gears, and still have 150bhp.

Thats the way Id be going about it.

Ceedubya, that's heavy...I was thinking about this whole 'transplanting issue'...did you change the drive train, new gear box etc? How long do you figure it would take to get it professionally swapped?

Thanks!

i had to change the running to skoda vrs stuff and the gearbox is a TT box converted to fwd

as for the pros fitting one i reckon a good place could do it in a week if they knew which parts to use

i waisted a fair bit of time trying out different parts to see what worked best

i had me polo chipped today

with the mods already fitted it made 220bhp(1st run) and 218bhp(2nd run) at the wheels BEFORE the rechip

after the rechip they could not get a figure as it was spinning on the rollers in 4th and 5th and when in 6th it was going too fast for the rollers

so i need to find a better rolling road

its a superchip and they say it will give a 40bhp increase

= 260ish bhp at the wheels ??????????????????????

Did I see your car in the latest copy of Performance VW? If so, well done!! Nice to see a 9n made it in from the forum.

Performance sounds staggering by the way!
