While we're talking about the port, is there an FAQ anywhere on it's purpose etc? I'm assuming its a serial (or similar) port connecting to the car's computer to which you can attach a PC running some special software which allows you to change things like getting the car to automatically lock at 5mph etc etc..
If my assumptions are correct, is this something only VW can do, or do you need special commercial software to do it, or can it be done over a simple terminal link etc? Are instructions available/downloadable etc?
Thanks,
Loo.

Guys,
Not really wanting to curtail anyone's fun and irrespective of your individual morals, we legally can't be using this board to exchange or organise the exchange of copyrighted software.
I recognise that offical copies of vag-com or its functional equivalents cost mucho money, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
So, I've got to call a halt to this conversation, just to protect uk-polos from any come-back from VW, ross-tech, or anyone else. Sorry, but I have to be cruel to be kind! You'll thank me in the long-run, I trust.
Deek.
