I may be wrong, but I think ETKA stands for Elektronisch Teile Katalog or Electronic Parts Catalog. Or something.

Anyways Petrified has the answer.

It's the software that VW dealers check when you ask for a part over the counter. It gives exploded views of all systems in a VW car, showing the parts and their respective numbers.

Cool stuff.

I have since found that to get Climatic you also need a new loom which is Â£200 + VAT so your looking at Â£500 to get Climatatic fitted aftermarket.

FAO Petrified.

To get a lockable glovebox your looking at Â£30 + VAT. But remember a locking barrel will need to be ordered to key number (will take about 7 working days)

Hi...

Does anyone have the part nos. for the lockable glovebox mod?

I tried my luck at my local dealers but they claimed there was no such thing available.

I found out, however, that a lockable glovebox is fitted to export cars (damn I hate that, VW cut costs on its second-biggest market but the cars that go to the caribbean or mexico or wherever are fully specc'd!!).

So the part numbers would probably allow me to order whatever I need from the factory.

Has anyone fitted a sunglass holder to their 9N yet?

The reason I ask is because I tried fitting one to my 6L Ibiza (the new one based on the 9N) and the supplied screw pushed my my roof! To say I wasn't pleased is an understatement.

I've asked a dent specialist to remove and they said they can't, so it looks like I'm going to have to get the lump removed at a bodyshop

Just a word of warning if you haven't!

6N or 6N facelift owners, if you want a sunglass holder for less than VW price, PM me

Yeah, I did the sunglasses mod a while back I remember Speedlaws write-up saying to use original screws, looks like it was good advice!!

thats normally the case as long as the thickness of the new part isnt much more and the original screw can get a good grip then leave it! same applys for wheel nuts when fitting alloys as long as the cone angle is the same or the spheric diameter.
before you try a body shop you might as well give it a try at repairing it your self cos you cant really loos so you might as well learn a little dent removal and if you mess it up then it doesnt cost you aany more

Turns out the screws provided with the holder were actually shorter than the ones in the grab handle, so I used them. But that's by no means a rule, so whoever wants to do this mod should check the screws first!

It annoys the hell out of me when so called 'Parts advisors' can't even find the simplest parts on ETKA

Go to another dealership because you can definately get a lockable glovebox, don't take no for an answer!!

I would give you a part no. but there are about 4 chassis breaks on the glovebox already

Fitted a sunglasses holder to my 9N last night and found the same - screws provided were actually shorter than those on the original handle so I used them instead.

Nice little mod that for Â£12.....
