Rev counter

Post by polo_phil »

My mk3 doesn't have a rev counter. I saw a dash mounted one on the cheap on Ebay which matches the rest of the dash nicely... only problem is I didn't think how I was going to fit it... Will there already be wires behind the dash to connect, and if so... which ones! If not... ermmm... ?
Thanks

do you mean youve seen a set of mk3 polo dials on ebay with a rev counter in? If you do then fitting these will not be a problem as long as the warning LEDs are the same as what you have now, or if your car is an early model. You can swap the spedometer around with the new dials so your mileage isnt affected.

getting it in and out is a bit of a pain, but the rest of it is easy.... and if you're only going to do the one swap, its only a one-off operation so not so bad! (if you want to change your bulbs, dial faces etc i suggest you do it all in one go and prep the new clocks in advance of fitting them - just make sure your bulbs are/should be functional first!)

if the ebay ones dont seem suitable, i'll have a set of early 90s ones up for grabs just as soon as my banger is either fixed 'n' run-in, or scrapped... it doesnt need a revcounter really, ive found (just fun to have on such a rinky dink motor) but they are useful for bedding in purposes.
