I need some new discs and pads just been to the local garage and he said it would be about £250.
I just wondered how easy it was to do youself as the parts only come to about £100 from German Swedish and French.

How much??
FCUK ME thats alot of money i bought black diamond discs (grooved and vented) and pads for £140 and i can tell you that the discs in vw aint that expensive think £35 each! i've got some in my garage that have done 1500 miles! look like new!
Servicing front brakes
Removing and installing brake pads, Girling/Lucas brake caliper
Removing
‒ → Remove lower brake caliper housing securing bolt. Counter hold on guide pin.
‒ → Swing brake caliper housing upwards.
‒ Remove brake pads.
Installing
Before inserting new brake pads, press piston back into the cylinder with resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, draw off brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise particularly if reservoir has been topped up, fluid will overflow and cause damage.
‒ → Press piston back.
‒ Insert brake pads.
‒ Swing brake caliper housing down and tighten hexagon bolts to 35 Nm.
◆ The repair kit includes four self-locking hexagon bolts which must be installed in all cases.
◆ After replacing the brake pads, depress pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
