Changing the dials!!
has anyone changed there dials, like all of them cos i was wondering whether i could take them out and scan the originals onto my pc and mess about with colours and remove useless stuff like kph, any help would be much appreciated o and if the dials are printed onto the background could i stick a sheet of dials infront or summat. It sounds a bit of a bodge i know but i think some white or cream dials are needed. Cheers
lockwood make the 140mph dial but not the 120mph but may be www.venommotorsport.com will do them...

hey man, im pretty sure its possible, and easy to remove the old dials, scan em then play around and replace em. Just be VERY careful with the needles, and make sure you put them back EXACTLY where they were - otherwise youll get strange readings (use a digital camera - take a pic before, then double check) or mark with chalk or whatever.

Hey I have that scanned if you want. But either way, how have to remove the needles. There are a lot of sites in german that have pictures showing how to remove the tacho, convert it to blue, etc etc.
For what you want i think the needles are the worst part since they break easily and you have to put them exactly in the same place.
Here's a example ( from blue-polo.de) http://www.blue-polo.de/polobig/umbau03.jpg

well hold on - is your polo post-98'? If it is, it might have a different design to mine, which is pre 98'. If your oil temp and fuel gauge are at the top of the dials, then its post-98', if the dials are are either side of the tacho and speedo, at the bottom, then its pre-98'. From what i can remember, there are 2 screws in the top-underside of the dial holder thing and then there are just 2 or 4 screws holding the dials to the dash.
Dont forget that my polo is pre 98' so it may be different!

I'm just guessing but pre-98's dials come out like in this site?
