2nd Service

Post by Jillwilson »

My warning has just come on in my car to tell me its ready for its second service and I've rung round a few local vw garages and they vary so much in price.
Can you all tell me roughly what u paid for your second service then I know if I'm been ripped off or not.
My first one was only £115 shich is cheap compared to what there asking for the second one.
Thankyou

mines only 20K so shouldn't need much doing should it bar oil and filters I might be wrong but its still not worthy of paying a minimum so far of £138.00 from bradford vw garage who are saying they messed up and it should really be £200 quid but there honouring the first price they said.

Mine was variable on my 1.9 TDI. I actually had to take it in at 37,000.

So do u think £138 is not too bad then.
I'm debating not going to a dealership and getting it done at a vw specialist.

I'd only ever get mine done at a main dealer.

Looks better too when you come to sell. I'd prefer to buy a car serviced by a main dealer than a local garage who will service most cars. Buts that only my opinion.

I know and I think the same but talking to a few people at the end of the day vw specalists usually do a better job than main dealers.

Screw the FSH! I have started doing it myself, I do about 20,000 a year, this means taking my car in a couple of times a year for a £200 service. I will probably have the car for 5 years so will have spent over £1500 in service costs alone. A FSH will only increace the price of a car by about £1000. So it makes absoloutly no sense. As long as you are able to service your car yourself that is.

I cant do it my self but a friend of mine is a fantastic mechanic who use to work for vw and my local vw dealer buys all there parts from another friend so in the end I'd be getting the same parts but a better job wi more care taken.
And like yourself I've put a lot of work into my car and ill be keeping it.

I just think the dealers rip you off too much, and if a vw specialist can do just as good a job, if not better, then i dont see why not!
If i was buying a car i wouldnt be bothered if it had vw specialist or dealer servicing!
