Squeeky Clutch.....does this mean problems?

Post by gwbjs »

My clutch has recently started squeeking and feels maybe a bit heavier. Does this signal that the clutch cable is about to go and/or the pedal box? Reading the previous post from newbie has got me a tad worried, particularly as I've just had the cam belt, tensioners, breaks, CV boot and service done.............my wife is likely to cut off the allowance if the Gti costs me any more this month!

If the clutch feels heavier, it could be about to go - happened to me, gear change was heavy and next thing I know im sitting in traffic unable to select a gear to move!

Have the cable checked/replaced asap I think (cable part is cheap)

Has the car had the pedal box recall sorted? Might not be this

mines been squeeky for about a year now.

VW said I need my clutch replacing. I took it to a reputable garage that dont charge nearly half of what VW do and they said the clutch was fine.

Cars been serviced and MOTd again and VW didnt say anything about the clutch even though nothing has changed since they last looked at it!
