Steering wheel boss

Post by GroovyCarrot »

Can anyone tell me if this is the early or late type spline?

And if it's the late type, can anyone tell me where I can get one of the spline adapters from? Given that I don't have any kind of puller so can't really nab one from the scrappy.

I cant really tell from the pic (you should have put a tape measure across it or something) But If I had to guess id say its the early type. Is it from your car? Because if it is its definately the early type.

looks like a later spline, the adaptors were available from the dealers a few years ago but no doubt they'll be discontinued by now. might be worth asking VAG parts to see if they can get hold of one.

Nah, it's a nice wheel on ebay, they said it came from a mk1 golf so I'm thinking it should be early type, but the splines look smaller than mine from what I remember so maybe not.
I'll ask VAG parts about it, once I've remembered the rest of my shopping list..

if its definatly off a mk1 golf then it should fit yours with no problems. My daft fault must be aftermarket wich is why i though it was later as standard wheels had plastic indicator canel lug.

Yeah, it's definately off a mk1 golf, but then the mk1 golf may have had an adaptor fitted from a late mk2 polo / golf. The steering wheel's aftermarket rather than standard so it could have been designed for the late spec mk2 golf and adapted to fit :?

Nice :D I like that steering wheel, very cool.
Zombie, thanks ;) I've asked about prices at VAGparts but I doubt they'll be able to get them..
