gritty surface

Post by jmk1 »

I shampood my car. I then cut it with turtle liquid t cut. over a period

of 4 weeks I applied 4 coats of turtle wax. Car came up like new

brilliant shine just like new BUT  when I ran my hand over the

body work it felt all gritty and sandy like. It looks like a back to the

drawing board. All that work for nothing .Anyone any suggestions :?

Meguiars Quick Clay.

It is about £12 but sooooooo worth it. Will take off any imperfections on top of the paint.

I did mine for the first time last sunday, here is what it looks like.

Image

What you need to do is wash the car and dry it

Break 1/3 of the clay bar off. Play with it will its soft enough to make a round disk about 5mm in thickness (my pic shows bigger becuase it flattened out after use). The brown marks on the clay is only what it took off my boot.

Spray the Quik Detailer on the paint as a lubricant and gently run the clay over the paint.

If you feel it sticking you will need to apply more Quik Detailer. Check it regulary for foreuin objects, stones....as these will scratch your paint.

After use the paint should feel a smooth as glass (If not do it again) Once you have done it you shouldn't need to clay the car for another 6 months.

I reccommend re-washing the car too. You will need to re-polish and wax as the clay will strip this off.

What Dino said ^

i did the same at the weekend...i couldn't believe the finish.

My car was pretty shiny to start with but now the paint is like glass to touch.
After i used the claybar i t cutted the entire car as i found that once the claybar had been used t'cut fetches loads of dirt out of the paint.I then waxed the car as normal and now after a couple of days rain it still looks as shiny and is really really smooth.

clay bar = Miracle worker

I personally use soapy water instead of the quick detailer, works just as well, keep the quick detailer for those bird sh1t moments

Hi guys.

Well i have the claybar .One question before I start. I understand the

claybar will remove imperfections and it will also remove the wax ,

What does it do to the LAQUER finish ?.
