difficult to get into gear sometimes

Post by nickpolo »

i've noticed tht when i'm driving and go to change down or stop at lights or a junction it can be difficult to get into gear, just dosent feel very smooth, no clunks or grating or anything, as i've just had a new clutch, just a bit notchy. i know the logical thing would be not to slow down or stop, thus preventing the problem.

does anyone else get this with the gears?

thanks

May be the common problem with the pedal box, if it carries on take it to VW?

does anyone know how the gear linkage alinment is checked? i'd like to ask my local garage to do it because this might solve the above problems?

I had a problem a while back when trying to get into the reverse gear, I took it to VW and they said that the alignment was out and they re-aligned it for me. When I asked how this is done and what caused it they said that they hoist the car up and then they have this template that they use and if the linkages are out they re-adjust so that they are in line again. They said that this is a common thing and that it could have been caused by a jolt but then I've had some much worse jolts since I've had it lowered and this problem hasn't arisen since...touch wood!
