i bet they dont get so much abuse as autocrossers! (or destruction derby, is that???)
you ever seen one of those races? its bloody mental. several laps around the track with upto 20 cars racing competitively, you know its going to get ugly (cars regularly flying into the air from collisons), and the dirt part of the course ends up very torn up
plus the scoobys, lancers etc all likely have under-trays to protect the gear (unlike the polo which seems to have all its undercarriage dangling free in the wind) and may have them located further off the ground (e.g. that boxer engine being quite flat) than the rather minimal-clearance VW sump 'n' all.
